Okay, listen... I got interested in this group a couple of years ago when they took on Scientology. My interest grew in February, when they became the hornet's nest that Gubmint-referred Super Anti-Hacker Aaron Barr stuck his penis into, simply because he suggested he could reveal their identities through some awesome backtracing. If you will recall, they took down his website, stole and published his emails (including one from his wife suggesting they divorce), erased his company's backup data, deleted his Twitter, remotely wiped his iPad, and outed him as a Night Elf Druid named Sevrynsten on Warcraft. All of this in less than 12 hours, destroying homeboy's credibility, and most likely his Internet Security Career. Wow! (npi). Now consider the case of Hal Turner. Hal had a racist, white supremacist net radio show a couple of years ago. Now he is in federal prison, thanks to Anonymous ( and, of course, his idiot self). Read on after the jump...


So, total dickhead and Internet Tough Guy Hal Turner, pissed off Anonymous in this way. Apparently, back in 2006, they liked to call into Hal's radio show and prank him, pretending to be gay neo-nazis and such. They would then play these recorded calls for eachother on /b/, and laugh. So ol' Hal, being a savvy Interweb Playa, figures out that he is being constantly mocked by these guys and decides to counterattack. He puts the prankster's IRL phone numbers on his website, so his loyal audience of 10 or so neo-nazi fuckwads could, if they were so inclined, prank call the Anonites back. Anonymous demands he take them down. He refuses. They kill his website. After a week or so he gets it back up, and then he claims that he had two members of Anonymous beaten up using his 'numerous contacts in Australia', and puts this picture up on his website:

Notice the pic he uses is from a backyard wrestling site. lulz. Anyways, then came l'deluge. They started skype-bombing his show with hundreds of calls, so that no 'legitimate' call could go through. Then they cut his stream using a botnet attack, whatever the fuck that is. Then they suborned the Vanguard News Network, which is comprised of blogs, forums, and chatrooms for Whitey Only, in a completely brilliant way. Disguising themselves as fellow white sumpremacists, they spread rumors and linked to real-looking fake news articles that claimed Hal had been and always was an FBI informant whose job it was to help them with the identification of white separatist groups (this funny lie is actually still in the wikipedia entry about Turner). This worked on dumbass neo-nazis like a charm, as you might expect. Last but not least, some /b/tard (an honorific in that community, meaning hacker hero), dug up an old recording of Hal complaining about a federal judge's decision to jail a prominent neo-nazi and then making some threats against that judge's life. Anonymous then began spamming FBI offices across the country, demanding something be done. Something was. In August, 2010, Hal Turner was sentenced to 33 months in federal prison.
