New Hampshire State Senate Introduces Bill To Keep College Kids From Voting

Oh, boy. "New Hampshire's new Republican state House speaker is pretty clear about what he thinks of college kids and how they vote. They're "foolish," Speaker William O'Brien said in a recent speech to a tea party group."Voting as a liberal. That's what kids do," he added, his comments taped by a state Democratic Party staffer and posted on YouTube. Students lack "life experience," and "they just vote their feelings."

New Hampshire House Republicans are pushing for new laws that would prohibit many college students from voting in the state - and effectively keep some from voting at all."

The rest of this nefarious plan is detailed in the WaPo here. This is a great example of what Le Haineux was talking about in the Scott Walker article. Republicans are every bit as cunning (as opposed to 'smart') as they are fiendishly dedicated to disenfranchising anyone who doesn't agree with them. It's just the same as if Democrats passed a law not allowing anyone in a NASCAR shirt to vote. The basis for this is that old Republican strawman "Voter Fraud". No actual case of voter fraud has been established here, mind you, it's just that 'the potential exists'. Now granted, my well-informed opinion of most college kids is that generally they are lazy morons with sadly underdeveloped political ideas. However, being as there are 18 to 22 year olds who are at this moment getting their asses shot out from under them in Afghanistan, I feel as though these kids have earned just as much a say in our government's future as any other age group, if not more. They are the ones doing the dying.
